[You know what's horrifying? Holograms. You know what's even worse? Being Ian during them. So when you hear the horrified shrieks in the plaza, it's probably just Ian being carried by a group of lumberjacks toward a GIANT WHIRRING WOODCHIPPER. Suffice to say, Mr. Kolansky is flailing above their heads in complete terror.]

PLEASE NO, NOT THE CHIPPER, NOT THE CHIPPER!!

I'M DELICATE!!

[It's not even registering that in such situations he'd die in Luceti; thank god for the lack of fatality in this event.]

.....

[Even worse, a couple hours later he's running all across town with people dressed like this after him. Man, he hasn't had this happen in a long-ass while, but it's still far from pleasant. By the time he manages to outrun them, he's gone all through town. His clothes are entirely wrecked and his day is shot to hell, b-but at least he can try to help some people out if they need it. You can find him hiding in the bushes or hanging upside down in a tree, struggling to get his foot out of vines. Or he can slam into you at a hideous speed. Or you can find him cowering in fear behind your house.

... Or you can find him tied up over a pot of boiling water.

Look, the mob wasn't friendly, okay? Kinda obvious.]

[Voice]

D-does anyone need any instant-healing medicine? I know some people were a little 'beat up' today...

Does anyone know why these're popping up like this?

[huff.]

Ah, well. This better not interrupt Parent's Day...

[He'll be around with dirty clothes (what's new), but he'll at least be free of any holograms, should you want him to run into one of yours.]

I certainly am... [Most of this is actually curiosity. He's been wanting to know how this medicine worked for ages ever since he realized what exactly it was.

... And he's still curious about what properties Ian's blood has that allows this to work. But mostly he's just grateful that someone like Ian is gracious enough to share.]

Wh-why would it make me uncomfortable...? You gave consent for its use... [And, well, other medicines and the like were initially sourced from unpleasant places.]

I actually... have my nanocomputer now, so if you would n-not be adverse to me studying it, then... I would be most pleased to. [Though chances are he won't find much of anything.

At any rate, though, he carefully takes the vial, cradling it in his palm like it's extremely delicate.]

[... There are blood-borne diseases and the like to worry about, Robert hadn't considered that strongly yet. But if Ian is another species, it's strongly unlikely that they will affect him, or anybody else save another tree-person.]

Would you w-wish to see, actually? Er, at a more... convenient time, of course...? It is too dangerous to do much in the way of r-research at this moment...

I would be g-glad to show you. Especially since it, of course, is p-pertinent to you.

... The results will be kept confidential, as... as a matter of principle. Unless you wished to d-disclose them.

[As much as Robert would happily disperse the information on his own, when it's obtained from a sapient, the sapient who the information is sourced from has the final say on who gets to learn what. Especially considering how Ian reacted to this before...]

[It's a good thing you thought of that, Ian, because Robert wouldn't have.]

... Point duly acknowledged.

In that case, it is... even more p-prudent that you be involved in the research.

Is that... healthy to you, without affecting your s-state at all...? [How much blood can one guy have, right?] Though it is most admirable that you would be so s-selfless, putting yourself at risk may not be the best idea...

[This just makes Robert wonder how long he could keep up with it, but in the meantime...]

I am glad.

... Th-thank you for providing some for me. I appreciate it... [And it may come in handy later on, not just for studying.]

If there is something I can d-do for you later, please let me know...

I will be s-sure to do so, Mr. Kolansky.

... Could I, er, g-get you something quickly before you leave, such as... a drink of something? [... He does not know what Ian eats or drinks right now and he would rather not guess and get it hideously wrong.]

Water and sugar... [Robert repeats it slowly, somehow not surprised. Though he wonders if Ian would prefer mineral water, if he could get any...]

Ah... give me a moment, pl-please.

[Either way, he disappears into the mass-of-simulations building a moment, heading over to his apartment. It's a short walk and, luckily, his apartment is mostly intact now, as long as he ignores the rainforested area in one corner which seems pretty harmless for now.

... A moment later, he returns with a small sugar bowl (he usually uses that for tea...) and a tall glass of cold water.]

... Is this... satisfactory?

[Please excuse Robert looking a little shocked. That was a lot of sugar...

... Oh well.]

You are... quite welcome.

Good luck with... s-subsequent endeavours...
