Surely an understanding of the properties of your medicine would be a benefit for both yourself and others who sell it, correct? It might even allow you to increase its potency further, or expand its abilities to cure. I cannot see this as being anything but a benefit to anybody, and such information ought to be available to all.
And... I am sorry to hear that your world is a violent one. Though... that does seem to be the norm, as much as that pains me to say. At the least you are trying to do something constructive instead of barbaric.
